Saturday, January 28, 2017 marks the beginning of Chinese New Year.  It is the Year of the Rooster.

The Chinese year 4715 starts on January 28, 2017.  Throughout the world, and especially in Asia, close to two billion people will be celebrating Chinese New Year.

There are epic national, citywide, and community observances of this important holiday in many places around the globe.

And in our homes, we celebrate Chinese New Year with our family and friends.  We visit with each other, and we enjoy the holiday feasts.  We exchange gifts, too.

Throughout the festivities, we celebrate cherished customs and traditions.

Indeed, Chinese New Year is a great time to stop and reflect on our lives and our role in the unbroken chain of life.

We may live in the modern world, yet we draw upon the timeless strength and character of our ancestors.

Our Chinese New Year celebrations are filled with precious moments.  We celebrate the past, present, and future—all at once.

We celebrate an illustrious past, and we honor our heritage and traditions.

We celebrate the simple joys of living in the moment, surrounded by those whom we love.

And we celebrate the prospect of a great future for ourselves, our families, our communities, and our world.

Then, after all the festivities are over, we will return to our everyday routines—newly renewed and looking forward to the coming days, weeks, and months.

Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!  May the coming year bring you good luck, good health, and much happiness!
